Project Linus

Project Linus is a national non-profit organization that provides blankets to children in need.  A child in need could be a child in an accident, going through counseling, loose their home in a fire, life threatening illness etc.  These blankets can be quilted, tied, knitted, crocheted (no wool please) or fleece, etc.  They MUST be new, handmade, and washable.  Elaborate or simple they are all beautiful to a child.  The Sault Ste. Marie/Chippewa County Chapter Coordinator is Colleen Sparks.  The quilts that we make will stay in the area unless for example a child that is visiting the area is in an accident.  Project Linus accepts blankets in all sizes.  They are donated to children, infants through teen years, so any size is appropriate.  Website is www.projectlinus.org

Soldier Quilt News

The letters continue to come and they are so wonderful to read. We were worried if they would help or just sadden the families when they were reminded of their losses. But it is definitely not a thought anymore! The letters we have received warm the hearts of anyone who reads them. What a wonderful thing you all are doing for these families. You are to be applauded for your continued efforts to make the lives of these families better.  Keep up the great work!

Here are just a few photos from the visit from Matt Johnson from the Governor's Office. He came to share some experiences he has had with the families that have received the Soldier Quilts. Click on the photos to enlarge.
